Congratulations Fantasy Football Winners!
Scarecrow Bowl 2 - Week 17
Wow...what a contest it was in week 16. Defending Champ Bob Baskerville with Scripps
Networks had rattled off 32 consecutive weeks of winning and was one point from entering
his 2nd Scarecrow Bowl. A costly fumble by his tight end is the narrow margin of defeat.
Thanks for playing Bob and you have been a most worthy defending champion. Mike Murray
of the Knoxville Ice Bears had a great season too reaching the Fab 5, but in his words he wants
to stick with hockey. Thanks Mike for leading our hockey franchise and thanks for your ongoing
support of The Scarecrow. And the other talented sports personality with Scarecrow Ambassador
Josh Ward finished in the same semi-final round as did Josh last year. Yes, Will West with The
Sports Animal came close to also reaching the fantasy final, but the week 16 scores were high
and there is only room for two. The Sports Animal has been a constant support of our mission
to help End Hunger so we thank you again for all you and Josh do to help us.
All of the chips now move to the center of the table. It is now time for Scarecrow Bowl 2.
So which two participants lasted out the other 48 plank walkers?
Orange Apple Branding - Susie Norris
Farragut Press - Ken Lay
Girl Power is Susie's cheer competing all year with the big boys. She may be the most excited
yet she goes up against the sports beat writer Ken Lay. He came close a few week's
back to exiting, but it's all about survival. Great job you two for making it 16 straight weeks.
And now it's all about who is going to win the Grand Prize with bragging rights of course.
Who are you cheering for to win Scarecrow Bowl 2?
Remember, a survivor can't pick a previously selected QB, RB, WR, or TE so it gets tougher
each week to determine the 4-player roster. This has been a very competitive group and all
strategized to reach Scarecrow Bowl 2 which features a private Super Bowl Party at Latitude 35
with a $1,000 food and bar tab along with a suite at Crowne Plaza with breakfast for two after an
exciting Super Bowl celebration. It's winner take all time!
We wish both Susie and Ken all the best and thank all 50 participants for playing.

Scarecrow Fantasy Football is on!
Scarecrow Fantasy Football Are you ready for a little fun while getting involved with an important issue?
The Knoxville Journal is supporting this survivor NFL game with this weekly column while media participants compete and stir more attention to hunger solutions. Why play this fantasy game? It's a simple way to motivate all of us while addressing a puzzling question. Why should anyone in America be hungry?
Q: How can you participate?
A: By following this column, you are invited join our team efforts.
Q: Who is playing Scarecrow Fantasy Football?
A: 50 media participants and Scarecrow Ambassadors all want to win Scarecrow Bowl 2
Q: How does the game work?
A: Each week, each participant picks (1) Quarterback, (1) Running Back, (1) Wide Receiver, and (1) Tight End. Based on selected player fantasy results for that given week, a cumulative fantasy score is tallied for each participant. The lowest three scores exit the competition.
Q: So is the game a survivor concept?
A: Yes, and since the NFL regular season is 17 weeks, and with 3 participants being eliminated each week, there will be two survivors for Scarecrow Bowl 2 in week 17.
Q: What it a participant's greatest fear?
A: Being eliminated in week 1...let the smack talk begin
Q: Are there any special rules or strategy for the game?
A: Yes. Once a participant picks a player and advances to the next week, he or she can not pick such player again for the remainder of Scarecrow Fantasy Football. For example, if a participant picks Peyton Manning in week 1, the participant may not use Peyton Manning again. So there is plenty of strategy and a little luck of when to play remaining NFL players.
Next week in this column we will list all 50 participants, and all 50 are focused on winning the Grand Prize which will be announced next week and of course bragging rights. Our returning champion is Bob Baskerville of Scripps Networks, as Rosemary Elkins of skirt! Magazine gave him quite a game in our initial Scarecrow Bowl. Bob won (2) 50-yard line Sky-box seats at The Swamp for the Tennessee-Florida game and the pride of winning it all.
We say "Thank You" to all of you who are actively involved with many of our outstanding local and regional hunger agencies. And we thank our media friends for all they are doing, and taking the time to have a friendly competition playing this crazy little game called Scarecrow Fantasy Football.
